As your Mitsubishi dealer serving Springfield, IL, we at O’Brien Mitsubishi consider your safety our responsibility. But that doesn’t just mean driver safety. For us, every single passenger is important, but right now the focus is on those who need a little more guidance: kids.
Mitsubishi Motors has partnered with Kids Safety First (KSF) and Dorel Juvenile Group USA to spread awareness of proper safety seat usage for parents and children alike. The three groups will host 15 child safety seat inspection checks at Mitsubishi dealers in Texas, California, Indiana, Maryland, Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and right here in Illinois.
Mitsubishi Kids Safety First will prove more than $30,000 in grants to community groups, with Dorel Juvenile Group adding a further $16,000 to be dedicated to child restraint systems.
Last year, 1,210 U.S. children were killed in traffic-related incidents and 171,000 sustained injuries. With motor vehicle crashes holding the top spot for the leading cause of death for children between 3 and 14, it is crucial that drivers and caretakers fully understand the importance of a properly installed safety seat. Unfortunately, at this time, data indicates that up to 73 percent of child restraints are dangerously misused, and last year’s Kids Safety First events saw a misuse rate of 84 percent on their own!
What’s the good news in all of this? O’Brien Mitsubishi is here to help. By visiting our dealership from 1 to 4 p.m. today, you and your family can receive hands-on help from certified child passenger safety technicians, who are here to provide their expert advice on selection, installation and continued use of child restraint systems.
The even better news? Once you have the right child restraint system selected and installed, this provision reduces the likelihood of infant fatality by 71 percent and toddler (1 – 4 years) fatality by 54 percent. Additionally, booster seats for children between 4 and 8 reduce the likelihood of injury by 45 percent.
No time is better than the present to further protect your family. Stop by now and get ready for a life-saving lesson!
