2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport: Ready, set, production!

It’s hard to believe, but the truth remains that we are about halfway through the summer, and many of us are scrambling to check items off of our summer lists before the leaves begin to fall. Do you have any big plans left for the summer? At O’Brien Mitsubishi, we certainly do!

We’re gearing up for the next phase of the one of our favorite models! Tuesday, July 17, marks the beginning of production for the 2013 Outlander Sport at the Mitsubishi Motors North America plant, which was recently overhauled in order to prepare for the unique landscape of producing a crossover SUV. All set with new automation, the plant will produce only the Outlander Sport as opposed to the collection of brand models previously assembled at that location.

Preparing for the coming of the 2013 Outlander Sport has been exceptionally smooth, with the plant turning around for launch just 17 short months following the announcement of the sole location of production. Typically, production transitions have taken the automaker as many as four years.

But this Bloomington Mitsubishi dealer simply can’t wait to have the 2013 Outlander Sport on our lots and driving into the hearts of our customers as soon as possible. The 2012 Outlander Sport has already enjoyed strong sales this year, including a 13-percent increase versus a year ago in June alone, selling 1,461 units. Vehicle sales for this model are also up 2.6 percent for the first half of 2012 versus 2011.

What does all of this mean for the 2013 model year? We’ll just have to enjoy the rest of our summer and see!
